SENIOR CO. LEAGUE DIVISION 5 - ROUND 6 - 18/6/2017
2017-06-18 18:41:00
Cordal 5-18 Ballylongford 1-5
This top of the table clash never got off the ground, as the home side were much too sharp for an understrength visiting side, who had no answer to the power play of their opponents who dominated throughout and scoring at will. Brian Reidy hit 2-2 in the opening half
with further scores coming from Philip O’Connor 1-3, Philip Griffin 1-1, T J O Connor 0-3, with Ciaran O’Connor and Joe McCarthy on target for Ballylongford, leaving the half time score Cordal 4-9, Ballylongford 0-3.
On resumption, Ballylongford had an uphill battle with Padraig O’Neill giving them a little bit of a lifeline finding the net. Ciaran O’Connor, Matt O’Connor and Jason Deegan added points, but Cordal answered with some fine scores of their own with Philip Griffin 0-4, Brian Reidy 1-3 (hat-trick hero), the goal from the penalty spot and T J O’Connor. In fairness, Ballylongford didn’t have much luck in the scoring department, hitting the crossbar on a number of occasions as well as being guilty of poor shooting when it came to scores.
