Cordal played Knocknagoshal to claim their sixth win out of six in this year's Division Five County League. The win was fitting as the Club unveiled the Tom Wrenn Memorial Stand with a plague in the memory of Tom Wrenn, Cordal GAA's former Chairman. Cordal held an eleven point lead upon the ref's final whistle with 0-16 to Knocknagoshal 0-05.
The first half kicked off with a Cordal point scored by T.J O'Connor. This was followed by a Knocknagoshal point scored by David O'Donoghue, before Cordal went on a scoring frenzy scoring eight points in a row. The second quarter was more even with Knocknagoshal digging in their defence. Both sides scored two points apiece. Half time left Knocknagoshal down by nine points at 0-03 to Cordals 0-12.
The second half was more prosperous for Knocknagoshal - they heavily defended their goals and reduced Cordal’s successful points from twelve to four. Knocknagoshal added two points to their own tally. A crucial moment came in the tenth minute, when Cordal goalie Sean Óg O'Ciardubháin saved a goal opportunity for Knocknagoshal. Cordal only managed to add one final point in the fourth quarter, scored by Philip Griffin, due to Knocknagoshal’s
good defending. Full time left Cordal on top at 0-16 to Knocknagoshal 0-05.
