SENIOR CO. LEAGUE DIVISION 4 - ROUND 3 - 8/4/2017 2017-04-08 19:29:00

Lios Póil 3-15   Beale 1-10

Playing with the sun to their backs in the first half, hosts Lios Póil laid what proved to be a solid foundation.  Lios Póil were always in front, from the moment Deaclán Ó Súilleabháin scored from a converted free, to when Adrian Ó Raoil recorded their final score towards the end of the second half. Ó Súilleabháin’s opening point was swiftly added to with scores from individuals such as Aaron Ó Muircheartaigh and Tomás Ó Cíobháin, whose goal left the significant gap of 1-05 to 0-00 by the 18th minute.  Beale eventually kicked points from Cormac Linnane and James Ellis. This, however, proved only to be a brief moment of relief, as Lios Póil were soon tapping over points, which left the half time score 1-11 to 0-03.

Lios Póil began the second half with a bang and, in the opening three minutes, Lios Póil had scored a point and rattled the net, the goal by Colm Ó Gealbháin. Beale to their credit were not deflated and struck back with a goal by Ian Mannix, who finished the match with a tally of 1-4.  The situation could have been more damaging for Lios Póil, if it were not for two outstanding saves by Johnny Ó Muircheartaigh immediately afterwards.  Lios Póil replied with two points, only for Ian Blake with a point from play to reduce the margin once more. Beale then went on to score two unanswered points, which left the score 2-14 to 1-05.  The hosts were not finished yet and over the next ten minutes, they added 1-02 without reply.  A late rally by Beale did result in four unanswered points, but it proved not to be enough, as Lios Póil claimed two county League points on a final score Lios Póil 3:15 to Beale 1:10.
