SENIOR CO. LEAGUE DIVISION 3 - ROUND 7
2017-07-13 01:33:00
Ballydonoghue 0-10 Dromid Pearses 1-09.
Dromid Pearses having dominated the first half and going in at half time leading by seven points, with Thomas Curran, Chris and Kealan Farley proving a real handful for the Ballydonoghue backs, will consider themselves lucky in the end to come away with a two point win. The Dromid goal was a scrappy affair with Jason Foley and Thomas Curran tussling for possession, with the latter getting a toe to the loose ball and it ended up in the back of the net. While at the other end, Ballydonoghue missed a glorious goal chance with only the keeper to beat, the ball was blasted well wide of the post. Half time score -Ballydonoghue 0-03 Dromid Pearses 1-07.
The second half was a complete turnaround, after Ballydonoghue came out a transformed team out-scoring their opponents seven points to two. As well as missing three great goal chances, two coming off the post, the third a great save from goalkeeper Brian O’Leary from a Padraig Lyon’s shot at the end of a great Ballydonoghue move that had goal written all over it. Ballydonoghue threw everything at Dromid in the second half, with Martin O’Mahony and Eamon Walsh coming into their own at centrefield. Dromid Pearses were hanging on at the end for dear life and Ballydonoghue will feel they at least deserved a share of the spoils, but in truth they left themselves with too much to do after a poor first half performance.
