SENIOR CO. LEAGUE DIVISION 2 - ROUND 6
2017-07-13 00:29:00
Killarney Legion 1-13 Listowel Emmets 0-13
Credit goes to both sides who battled out this Co. League game under such intense heat in Derreen on Sunday. Listowel had the better of matters for the first quarter and should have led by a greater margin than the three point advantage they had at that stage. The home side settled to their task and the last 15 minutes of the first and first 15 of the second half saw them produce their best football. Conor Cox was their main marksman notching six frees, but was otherwise well held by Chris Davies. The Legion, having built up a six point lead looked to be comfortable, but a combination of several missed chances by their forwards and Listowel’s refusal to lie down saw them level with time almost up. It was fitting, however, that three of the Legion's best performers on the day, namely Billy McGuire, Shaun Keane and Chris Davies, should combine to set up Conor Keane, who coolly and expertly converted to the back of the Emmets’ net to seal the win after a tricky day at the office.
