Currow hosted Kilcummin on Saturday evening in round 7 of Division 2 of the Credit Union County League. Currow were first on the score sheet with a Dan O Shea free. Kelvin Teahan replied for KIlcummin. The teams traded points again with Mike Mc Carthy for Currow and Shane Sweeney getting three points for the away side. After 20 minutes, with the sides level, Donal Maher fisted a goal from a ball that came off the posts for Kilcummin’s first goal. Six minutes later, Chris O Leary scored a cracking goal to put the away side in front 2-05 to 0-05 at half time.
Daniel O Shea hit form for Currow in the second half and scored some fine points to drag the home side back into contention. John Buckley added two more points to add to his first half score and Mike Mc Carthy also scored two second half points to register five in total for the game. Kilcummin took 16 minutes to register a score after the break. Daniel O Shea’s total for the second half came to eight, to give Currow a five point lead going into injury time, when Kelvin Teahan scored only Kilcummin’s second point of the second half.
At Full time, Currow had secured the two valuable points on a score line of 0-18 to 2-07.
