Ardfert 1-9      Waterville 1-8

Ardfert got the game under way with two quick points, one from Brian O’Regan and  another from Kevin Shanahan, which could have been a goal but for a good save by Seamus O’Shea in the Waterville goal.  Fionán Clifford then set off on a great run and a nice pass into Jamie O’Sullivan resulted in a penalty, which Stephen O’Dwyer put away.  Gearoid O’Sullivan with a nice turnover won a free kick, which O’Dwyer put over from 40 yards for his first point of the game and, soon after, Sam O’Dwyer scored a point to make it 1-2 to 0-2 for Waterville.  Barry O’Dwyer scored a great point from a tight angle soon after and, after a long break with no score, Ardfert finally scored after a 15 minute break.  Barry O’Dwyer slotted over another and Waterville led 1-4 to 0-4 at halftime, but Ardfert had wind advantage to come  in the second half.

Ardfert had the first score of the second half with a free kick from John Egan and Brian O’Regan followed with another point, to make it a one point game and they were level when Jerry Wallace punched over the bar.  The visitors then scored a goal, when Eoin Courtney fisted across goal for his brother Iarla to punch to the net and Kevin Shanahan followed with a point.   After an 18 minute spell with no score for Waterville, Stephen O’Dwyer scored a great free kick into the wind and then Barry O’Dwyer, after a great solo run, finished it off with a point.  Two points from Stephen O’Dwyer reduced the margin to the minimum, but time ran out on the home side.
