Glenflesk 4-07   Listowel Emmets 1-13

Having won their opening game of the Co. League a week earlier, Listowel travelled to Glenflesk on Sunday afternoon in confident mood, but it was Glenflesk, aided by a hat trick of goals from Gavin Kelly, who kept up their 100% record.  Listowel started the game by creating a goal chance, which was brilliantly saved by Felim Jacobs, but the opening ten minutes were dominated by Glenflesk thereafter and they led by 1-02 to 0-00, with the on form Gavin Kelly scoring 1-01, the goal brilliantly set up by Lee O Donoghue.   Listowel were spurred into life by the goal and Conor Cox with a point from play and one from a free closed the gap to three.  The teams traded points between the 15th and 25th  minutes, Darragh Roche and Lee O Donghue for Glenflesk, Conor Cox and Noel Kennelly for Listowel leaving the score, Glenflesk 1-04, Listowel 0-04.  Listowel were unfortunate not to be closer, but some outstanding defensive work by Jerry Kennedy and Liam Warren kept them at bay and Glenflesk finished the half strongly, to open up a five point lead with points from Gavin Kelly and Darragh Roche.  Half Time Score; Glenflesk 1-06, Listowel 0-04.

Listowel began the second half with the aid of a strong breeze and dominated possession for the opening five minutes, but a combination of good defending from Glenflesk and poor shooting from Listowel meant the gap remained five points and, when Glenflesk launched their first attack of the second half, they worked the ball to Kieran Murphy, who pointed from 25 yards out.  Conor Cox cut the gap back to five with a free, but a fortuitous goal from Jeff O Donoghue gave Glenflesk a commanding eight point lead with 22 minutes to play, but a minute later, Glenflesk Corner back Shane Courtney received a second yellow card and with 21 minutes to pla, Listowel still had plenty of time to retrieve the eight point gap. Conor Cox cut the gap to seven immediately with a free and their tails were up, but another piece of brilliance from Lee O Donoghue followed and he set up Gavin Kelly for his second goal to leave the score Glenflesk 3-07, Listowel 0-06 with 18 minutes to play.

Incredibly, Listowel scored 1-07 without reply between the 12th and the 28th minutes, the goal coming from Noel Kennelly, Conor Cox adding a further four points.   David Sheehy(2) and Maurice Whealan with the others.  The win now looked inevitable for Listowel, but with time up Darragh Roche cut through the Listowel defence and passed it off to Gavin Kelly, who was once more clinical in front of goal scoring his third goal, taking his total for the day to 3-02 in a marvelous display.   Listowel launched one more attack looking to salvage a draw, but when a dangerous ball came across the box, it was James McCarrick who emerged with it to seal the win for Glenflesk.
