Killarney Legion 1-8 Kenmare 1-4

The second game in the county league saw the Killarney Legion travel to sunny Kenmare and maintain their unbeaten record.  A gale force wind made things difficult for both sides and the contest eventually came down to sheer determination and fitness.  Going in leading on a scoreline of 0-5 to 0-2, it looked ominous as Kenmare had the benefit of the elements in the second half.  However, the Legion squad displayed a doggedness and, allied to a fine showing by the defence, they overcame the setback of a Kenmare goal with 15 minutes to go, by threatening to hit the net themselves on two occasions.  The goal eventually came, fittingly from a turnover ball by the Legion backs, and a quick move upfield saw the willing Jack O Neill punch to the net - no more than the Legion deserved in fairness.  Discipline and some tidy tackling kept Kenmare to a very manageable total of 1-4 and therein lay the reason for the win.  Chris Davies at centre back was outstanding while Finbarr Murphy at full forward continues to improve and shows great promise.
