A draw in Strand Road was probably a fair result in this match;  Kerins O'Rahillys were fastest out of the blocks and led by 0-03 to nil after eight minute,s with scores from Rory Molloy, Tommy Walsh & Kieran O'Mahony; Milltown/Castlemaine  came back into the game and scores were traded over the next 20 mins to leave the half time score, Kerins O Rahillys 0-08 to Milltown/Castlemaine  0-07.

On the resumption, scores were again level at 0-09 apiece, when John Ferguson got on the end of a long ball from Tommy Walsh to punch to the net after eleven minutes:  1-09 to      0-09.  It was tit for tat from there to the end and when, on the 30th minute, Gearoid Savage put over a free to put Kerins O'Rahillys one point ahead, it looked like the final score.   One last play resulted in a free for Milltown/Castlemaine, who pointed to see the match end in a draw.  David Roche and Pa Wrenn at midfield for Milltown/Castlemaine played well,  despite conceding height difference to their opponents, and defenders Stephen Roche and Nigel Wrenn led from the front.   Milltown/Castlemaine scorers were Jonathon O'Sullivan, Cathal Moriart,y with Pa Wrenn and Jerome Flynn also contributing.  Final score:  Kerins O Rahillys 1-13, Milltown/ Castlemaine 0-16.
