After a rather timid first half, which produced only ten scores (the home side ahead at half time by 0-06 to 0-04), the second half really came to life with almost twice as many scores (19 in total), including a plethora of goals (five for the home side and two for the visitors).  The first goal of the game came in the 40th minute, with the Rock captain,

Shane O’Callaghan, on target and when Shane landed a second, four minutes

later, this left the home side ahead by twelve points at that stage (2-11 to 0-05).

However, in the next five minutes,  Desmond had cut that lead to just four when they added 2-02 without reply – the two goals coming from Thomas Hickey (team captain) and Graham O’Connor.  With three late goals for the home side, from three different players – Shane O’Callaghan (his hat-trick), David Mannix and Pa McCarthy – gave the Tralee side their first League win of the season with 15 points to spare at the end.
