John Mitchels 0-08 Dr Crokes 1-11
Before the commencement of the game, John Mitchels U10 boys formed a Guard of Honour for both teams and there was a minute’s silence before throw in for Francis Galvin, who passed away earlier this week. The throw in was at 6.30 p.m. The evening was blustery with a strong cross field wind. Dr. Crokes opened the scoring with a point from Shane Murphy, followed by a point from a free from Chris Brady. Mitchels got on the score board in the 16th minute with a point from a free from James Duggan, leaving the score at the end of the first quarter Mitchels 0-01, Crokes 0-02. Dr. Crokes followed on with a point from play from Tony Brosnan, followed by a speculative high ball into the Mitchels square, which was deflected into the Mitchels goal by Paul Clarke. This was going to be the decisive score of the game. Mitchels, to their credit, fought back with scores from Niall Sheehy from play and a James Duggan free. Crokes finished the first half with a Daithi Casey point from play and Tony Brosnan free, leaving the half time score: Mitchels 0-03, Crokes 1-05.
Dr. Crokes opened the second half with a point from play from Jason Lyne, followed by a Mitchels point from play from Niall Sheehy. Dr. Crokes scored a further two points and Mitchels pulled one back with a James Duggan converted free, leaving the scores going into the last quarter: Dr Crokes 1-08, Mitchels 0-05. In the last quarter, Crokes added on a further three points which was matched with points from Conor Hurley and George Bastible, both from play and a converted free by Alan O'Donoghue, leaving the final score Mitchels 0-08, Dr Crokes 1-11.
