AUSTIN STACKS 1-13 ST. MARYS 2-10 2017-07-10 21:45:00

Austin Stacks 1-13        St. Marys 2-10

Four minutes of added time had elapsed when a way-ward side-line kick by the Stacks was intercepted by St. Marys. The alert Denis Daly was already on the move up-field and he collected the ball and his shot for goal, though initially saved, was scrambled to the net by Seán Cournane to give his side a dramatic share of the points, that looked to have drifted away from them half-way through the second half, when the home side had a six points lead at that stage (1-12 to 1-06).  Stacks lead by 1-08 to 1-05 at half time, with both first half goals coming in quick succession half-way through the half – Dan Daly for Marys scoring first in the 14th minute, to be followed two minutes later by a Pa McCarthy goal from a penalty.

This is a result that will have pleased the visitors a lot more than the home boys, who still have just one victory after their four games played (they still have the postponed game against Dr. Crokes to play).  Final Score:  Austin Stacks 1-13, St. Marys 2-10.
