Kerins O'Rahillys 1-12 Dr Crokes 4-17
An open free scoring game saw All Ireland club champions, Dr Crokes, take the spoils in Strand Road’s Rahillys started brightly and with Gearoid Savage to the fore saw them 0-04 to 0-02 in front after just seven minutes, with Gearoid scoring three and a great score from centre back Ross O'Callaghan; a stray kickout saw Daithi Casey find the back of the net and, when this was followed quickly by another major from Jordan Kiely, Crokes were in front 2-08 to 0-07 at half time. Rahillys’ other scorers were Karl Mullins, Ross again and a great score from livewire corner forward, Gearoid Dillane, who knifed through the Crokes defence and skimmed the cross bar with a great drive.
On the resumption, a super move involving Rory Molloy and Ross O'Callaghan saw the ball finish up with John Ferguson, who fired a tremendous drive past Shane Murphy to reduce the deficit to four points. Crokes upped the tempo again and were 2-10 to 1-07 in front, when substitute mid fielder Ambrose O'Donovan found the net with a low shot. From here to the finish, Crokes tacked on some fine scores, though Strand Road never flagged and got some good points from John Ferguson, who accounted for all of their second half scores, 1-05 in total. Final score: Kerins O’Rahillys 1-12, Dr. Crokes 4-17
